Do you or your partner suffer from snoring? Are you losing sleep because of it?

We’re going to talk about the causes of snoring and how you can finally get relief from it.

Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures (uvula and soft palate) and the resulting sound. It is caused by obstructed air movement during sleep.

Snoring can result in sleep deprivation, both for the snorer and those around them. This leads to drowsiness, fatigue, lack of focus, and often, relationship problems.

Some of the causes of snoring are an obstruction in the nasal passageway, the position of the person’s body while sleeping, enlarged tonsils, relaxed throat muscles (caused by a number of things such as throat weakness, drugs, or alcohol), fat in and around the throat, and a mispositioned jaw.

Fortunately there are things you can do to stop or dramatically reduce your snoring. We’ll discuss these in a future post.
